"Let’s have a moment of silence for all those stuck in traffic on the way to the gym to run on a treadmill."

Quote of the day:

About us.

The "Go Play in the Street! 5K" began in 2007, as a benefit to raise funds in support of cancer research and programs dedicated to helping cancer patients and their families, hosted by "Just Good Friends" of Greene County. While primarily a fundraiser to help find a cure for cancer, the event also promotes health and wellness in our west-central Illinois community.

The "Tot Trot," for all children 3- to 6-years-old, was added in 2013.

Each year, more runners and walkers come to "Play in the Street" with us. We award medals to the top-overall male and female 5K finishers, as well as first and second place to the male and female winners in each of eight age groups: 13 and under; 14-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70+.

In 2014, we began awarding finisher's medals for all who walk, run or skip across the line.

We look forward to seeing you "in the street!"
